“This manual implements Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD) 91-2, Safety Programs, and parts of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), and includes additional requirements not addressed by the OSHA standard.”

Retired Master Sergeant Larry Kime is now a Senior Instructor at CICB.

Larry walks us through the history of AFMAN 91-203, from its inception as AFOSH 91-46, to AFI 91-203 (in 2012) and its current revision in 2018.

Chapter 12 of AFMAN 91-203 covers Material Handling.

Retired Master Sergeant Larry Kime is now a Senior Instructor at CICB. He reminds us that AFMAN 91-203 is only one of four sources of information governing crane & rigging operations on an Air Force Base.

Also important are the OSHA regulations (federal government law), ASME standards (B30 series) and the manufacturer’s instructions.

AFMAN 91-203 incorporates by reference the OSHA regulations and ASME standards. It augments these, rather than replacing them.
