Crane Standards for the Military: Army
There are typically four rulings that will cover any job:
- Manufacturer’s Instructions (including crane manual & operator’s manual)
- Company Policy
- Industry Standards (such as ANSI/ASME)
- OSHA Regulations
If there is any contradiction, you must always follow the strictest standard.
The principal standards governing lifting operations in the Army are EM 385-1-1 Sections 15 & 16
