Crane Inspection & Certification Bureau (CICB) Trainers and Staff recently returned from CONEXPO 2017, the five-day construction exposition and conference, which showcased the latest equipment, product innovations, and education.
With a dramatic display of gleaming new cranes dominating the Las Vegas skyline as the backdrop, CICB’s Trainers provided NCCCO Certification training to Mobile Crane Operators and Lift Directors in record numbers. Attendees at these programs were able to visit ConExpo and leave NCCCO Certified.
CICB’s Staff also participated in stellar lineup of educational programs on crane & rigging topics, such as:
• Mechanics of a Super Lift– With the very large cranes available today, “critical lifts” have taken on a new meaning. New information gained in this program will assist CICB’s clients in understanding the technical challenges associated with making super lifts, learn how super lift plans are developed and checked for accuracy, and develop a lift manual for super lifts.
• What Does Certification Have to Do with Qualification? In the crane industry we hear the terms competent, qualified and certified. Sometimes these terms are used as if they were interchangeable, but in reality they have very different implications and OSHA has been addressing the “missing link” between certification and qualification for years.
• Responsibilities of Onsite Personnel for Cranes– The national consensus standard (ASME) has defined responsibilities of onsite personnel, and OSHA has been enforcing them. These responsibilities were defined in order to make work sites safer, but the fact remains that many employees and employers are unaware of their responsibilities, what their roles are on the job site, as well as what training and qualification is necessary to meet the requirements.
Although typically considered an equipment show rather than a conference, this year’s CONEXPO featured an outstanding educational opportunity not only for attendees, but also for CICB personnel, keeping them abreast of all the innovations in technology.
Considering the wealth of innovation that is currently underway in the field and understanding first-hand how this will affect our clients, enables the Subject Matter Experts at CICB to provide Safer Operations Anywhere in the World…
